You must clear every Knowledge paper, either by passing it or receiving a credit, before moving into the Application programme. You must then clear every Application paper before moving into the Professional programme.

The normal order of study

ICAG has arranged the qualification in a clear sequence: Knowledge, then Application, then Professional. A paper is treated as cleared for this purpose when you have passed it or ICAG has formally credited it.

A notice for a particular examination diet may still allow a limited mix of papers from two levels. That is a special permission for that sitting; it does not change the normal order of the qualification.

Use the ICAG Professional Programme Syllabus 2024-2029 to plan your overall progression. Before an examination entry, also read the official ICAG notice for that particular sitting because it may allow a temporary cross-level combination.

Before registering, check the official notice ICAG issued for that specific sitting. A temporary paper-combination permission does not change the normal syllabus sequence.

Once you have checked your confirmed passes and paid exemptions, build your personal ICAG study plan. It brings your paper choices, study time and MSL tuition options together. The November 2026 edition shows a warning when its information needs a fresh check; it does not approve examination entry.
