MSL Business School Scholarships: FLSP, TASP and CTSP Explained

MSL Business School · Qualification Guides

MSL Business School runs three merit scholarships for outstanding students: a 100% ICAG tuition waiver, a 40% ICAG tuition reduction, and a 100% CITG tuition waiver for Ghana’s most promising young tax talent. This guide explains exactly who each one is for, how you qualify, what it covers, how to keep it, and how to apply, so you can find the one that fits you and put in a strong application.

In short

There are three awards. The Future Leaders Scholarship (FLSP) is a full 100% ICAG tuition waiver for exceptional undergraduates and recent graduates with an outstanding academic record. The Tertiary Achievers Scholarship (TASP) is a 40% ICAG tuition reduction for strong undergraduates who fall just short of the FLSP bar. The Chartered Tax Scholarship (CTSP) is a full 100% CITG tuition waiver for ICAG high achievers crossing into the chartered tax qualification. All three are merit-based, competitive, open to applicants under 27, and reviewed on a rolling basis. FLSP and TASP share one application form; CTSP has its own.

Every criterion in this guide mirrors the current MSL scholarships page and the live application forms. Scholarships are competitive and merit-based, so meeting the minimums does not guarantee an award. Always review the criteria before applying, and reach out if you are unsure which one fits.

Three scholarships, one purpose: to back Ghana’s best

  • Future Leaders Scholarship (FLSP). A full 100% ICAG tuition waiver for exceptional undergraduates and recent graduates with an outstanding academic record.
  • Tertiary Achievers Scholarship (TASP). A 40% ICAG tuition reduction for strong undergraduates who do not quite meet the FLSP bar, with a path to migrate up.
  • Chartered Tax Scholarship (CTSP). A full 100% CITG tuition waiver for ICAG high achievers crossing into the chartered tax qualification, covering the CITG Final Level.
  • Common thread. All three are merit-based, competitive, open to applicants under 27, and reviewed on a rolling basis, so there is no fixed deadline.
  • Two forms. FLSP and TASP share one application form. CTSP has its own. Both are linked below.

A note on selection. These awards are highly competitive. The criteria below are the minimum bar to be considered, not a guarantee of selection. A strong, complete application, with clean documents, is what moves you from eligible to awarded.

Why we offer them

Investing in ambition

The scholarships exist to give back, and to back Ghana’s most driven future Chartered Accountants and tax practitioners. They are inspired by the academic journey of MSL’s founder, Michael Siaw Larbi (MSL).

  • At the University of Ghana Business School, he completed all 16 ICAG papers (at the time) in under two years, every one on the first attempt, finishing at age 21 in his third year.
  • He was the National Overall Best ICAG Candidate at the Final Level, and Overall Best at the earlier levels.
  • The following year, he graduated with First Class Honours as Valedictorian and Overall Best Graduating Student, with the highest GPA of his year, 3.94 out of 4.0.

That is the standard these awards are built to find and fund. Today, the institution he founded is Ghana’s clear technology leader in professional education, the first and only provider with multimodal AI for professional exam students. The scholarships make that preparation more accessible to the students most likely to make the most of it. You can read more about MSL’s journey on the founder’s awards page.

Future Leaders Scholarship

FLSP: a 100% ICAG tuition waiver

The Future Leaders Scholarship is a full 100% tuition fee waiver for exceptional current undergraduates and recent graduates with outstanding academic records who are heading into the ICAG qualification. It is the most generous award MSL offers, and the most competitive.

Who is eligible

  • An undergraduate at a Ghanaian university, or someone who graduated within the last 12 months.
  • Under the age of 27.
  • Preparing for, or currently pursuing, the ICAG qualification.

The minimum academic record

  • Male applicants: a GPA of 3.80 out of 4.0, 4.80 out of 5.0, or a CWA of 78.
  • Female applicants: a GPA of 3.75 out of 4.0, 4.75 out of 5.0, or a CWA of 75.
  • These minimums do not guarantee selection. The award is highly competitive and merit-based.

Keeping the scholarship

  • Pass every paper on your first attempt.
  • Each sitting, attempt the required papers. At Level 3 and Level 1, all 4; at Level 2, at least 4 unless fewer remain.
  • You are encouraged to score 60% or more in half your papers, which is used to assess eligibility for higher levels.

Apply with the ICAG Merit form. FLSP shares one application form with the Tertiary Achievers Scholarship. You do not pick between them on the form; MSL assesses your record against both.

Tertiary Achievers Scholarship

TASP: a 40% ICAG tuition reduction

The Tertiary Achievers Scholarship is a 40% tuition fee reduction for current undergraduates with strong academic performance who do not meet the strict FLSP criteria. It recognises excellent students who are close to the top bar, and it comes with a route to move up.

Who is eligible

  • A current undergraduate under 27 with First Class Honours who does not meet the FLSP criteria.
  • In exceptional cases, a borderline but very strong Second Class Honours (Upper Division) with outstanding academic potential and professional promise.
  • Exceptional graduates who narrowly miss the FLSP criteria may also be considered.

Progression and migration

  • If a TASP scholar’s final undergraduate results meet the FLSP criteria, they may migrate to the 100% Future Leaders Scholarship for their remaining ICAG studies.

From a 40% reduction to a full waiver. TASP is not a consolation prize. Strong final results can move you up to the full FLSP waiver, so a good year at university genuinely pays off.

Chartered Tax Scholarship

CTSP: a 100% CITG tuition waiver

The Chartered Tax Scholarship is a full 100% tuition fee waiver for ICAG high achievers crossing into Ghana’s chartered tax qualification, covering tuition for the CITG Final Level (FL1 and FL2). Where FLSP and TASP reward promise at university, CTSP rewards proven performance in the ICAG examinations themselves, and channels it into the country’s tax profession.

Who it is for

  • ICAG high achievers moving into MSL’s CITG programme.
  • Under the age of 27.
  • Completed the ICAG program in the March 2025 sitting or later.

How you qualify: pass either route

  • Route 1. Passed all four ICAG Level 3 papers at a single sitting, on first attempt.
  • Route 2. Passed all four on first attempt across no more than two consecutive sittings, with 75 or above in Advanced Taxation (Paper 3.3) and at least 55 in each of Corporate Reporting (3.1), Advanced Audit and Assurance (3.2), and the Strategic Case Study (3.4).

What it covers

  • Full tuition for the CITG Final Level: FL1 and FL2.
  • It covers the levels you actually sit, since ICAG members enter CITG with exemptions and proceed to the Final Level.
  • It is open to every qualifying applicant, with no cap.

How eligibility is verified, and how you keep it

  • Proof. An official ICAG transcript, plus scripts or other evidence showing your pass dates, together with your final ICAG certificate of completion. The certificate is waived only if you completed ICAG in the most recent sitting, before ICAG has held its next graduation. All applicants also submit a National ID to confirm age.
  • Keeping it. To retain the waiver through the CITG Final Level, you must pass every paper on your first attempt.

Why tax, and why now. Ghana needs Chartered Tax Practitioners, and the students who sweep ICAG’s tax paper are exactly the people who should build that career. CTSP removes the cost barrier between a proven ICAG finisher and the MCITG (Ghana) designation.

FAQ

MSL scholarships: frequently asked questions

Who can apply for an MSL scholarship?

All three awards are open to applicants under 27. FLSP and TASP are for undergraduates at a Ghanaian university or graduates from within the last 12 months who are entering the ICAG qualification. CTSP is for people who have completed the ICAG program in the March 2025 sitting or later and are crossing into CITG. All three are merit-based and competitive.

What is the difference between FLSP and TASP?

The Future Leaders Scholarship (FLSP) is a full 100% ICAG tuition waiver for the very strongest academic records. The Tertiary Achievers Scholarship (TASP) is a 40% ICAG tuition reduction for strong undergraduates who fall just short of the FLSP bar. You apply once, with the ICAG Merit form, and MSL assesses your record against both. A TASP scholar whose final results reach the FLSP standard may migrate up to the full waiver.

What is the Chartered Tax Scholarship (CTSP)?

CTSP is a full 100% CITG tuition waiver covering the CITG Final Level (FL1 and FL2), for ICAG high achievers crossing into the chartered tax qualification. You qualify by passing all four ICAG Level 3 papers on first attempt, either at a single sitting, or across no more than two consecutive sittings with 75 or above in Advanced Taxation (Paper 3.3) and at least 55 in each of the other three Level 3 papers. It is open to every qualifying applicant, with no cap.

Do I have to be under 27?

Yes. All three scholarships are open only to applicants under the age of 27, which is why a National ID is required to confirm your age.

What does each scholarship cover?

FLSP covers 100% of your ICAG tuition at MSL. TASP covers 40% of your ICAG tuition. CTSP covers 100% of your tuition for the CITG Final Level (FL1 and FL2), which are the levels an ICAG member actually sits after entering CITG with exemptions.

Is there an application deadline?

No fixed deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so it is best to apply early. Because places and funding are limited and the awards are competitive, an early, complete application is an advantage.

Which form do I use, and what documents do I need?

FLSP and TASP share one ICAG Merit application form. Current students upload an official transcript (or a portal transcript endorsed by a faculty member) and a valid student ID; graduates upload an official transcript and their final degree certificate; all applicants upload a National ID. CTSP has its own form and asks for your official ICAG transcript, scripts or other evidence of your pass dates, your final ICAG certificate of completion (waived only for the most recent sitting before graduation), and a National ID.

How do I keep the scholarship once I have it?

For FLSP, you pass every paper on your first attempt, attempt the required papers each sitting, and are encouraged to score 60% or more in half your papers. For CTSP, you retain the waiver through the CITG Final Level by passing every paper on your first attempt.

Do I need to be an MSL student already?

No. The scholarships are how many students begin with MSL. If you are awarded, the scholarship funds your tuition on the relevant MSL programme, whether that is your ICAG studies or your CITG Final Level.

Can the criteria or figures change?

Scholarship criteria are set by MSL and can be updated. This guide mirrors the current scholarships page at the time of writing. If anything is unclear, or you are close to a threshold, message MSL on WhatsApp and we will confirm where you stand before you apply.
